These engines similar to a standard lower unit! The rotor blade (propulsion device) operates off of the prop shaft not the drive shaft like Jet outboards. These motors are safe to operate in sandy and weedy areas. STANDARD LOWER UNITS ARE INTERCHANGABLE WITH THIS ENGINE AND ALL GEARS AND ASSEMBLY ARE IDENTICAL!!!
This is a Johnson 30 hp 15" Short Shaft tiller model (118 lbs) outboard motor with a Pump Jet. The pump jet was commissioned by the U.S. Military to provide safety for marines when they were in the water. This pump jet lower unit provides many features that are attractive to boaters including safety, performance, power, and durability. AFA Marine has boat tested these motors and we were very impressed. We noticed exceptional acceleration, smooth trolling, and perfect transition while going in forward neutral and reverse. We also tested this unit while it was in the shallow drive mode and we were very satisfied. This engine provides safety as the jet propulsion is completely guarded. Based on our boat test we are very confident that you will be satisfied with the performance. This outboard has very low hours and has been primarily used in freshwater. It includes the dewatering valve for emergency starting after being submerged in water. The Powerhead is in near mint condition with some heavy duty anti-corosion spray to protect the inside of the motor. These are perfect engines for your flats boat, Boston Whaler, Carolina Skiff, Gheenoe, Bass Tracker, jon boat, fiberglass skiff, inflatable, or any other boat that can accommodate a 15" 30 hp Johnson outboard.
