Owned by AFA Marine, INC for this past fishing season. We used this engine for about 50 hours and it runs perfectly. This engine was used until 12/4/2011 until it was removed to be replaced by a 4-stroke 200 hp. This engine is very tight and runs perfectly. This motor was on our Company boat a 23ft Hydra-Sports Bay Bolt. This Yamaha 150 hp starts, runs, and performs as good as any motor we have seen. This is a 150 hp Yamaha 2-stroke v6 outboard engine. Yamaha's v6 engines from 150-200hp all perform about the same. We were able to get 43mph w.o.t. on a 23ft boat. The 150 hp is the same class as the 200hp Yamaha carbureted v6 engine of the same era. The main difference between the 150 and 200hp v6 Yamaha 2-stroke engine is primarily found in the size of the carburetor and in the exhaust manifolds. There are a few other differences but not enough to create a wide gap in performance. If your boat requires a 200 hp this 150hp will more than likely suffice (based on our tests). This engine has a 25" shaft, and has power tilt and trim. Compression on this motor is strong at 120psi even. This engine is ideal for bay boats and center console fishing skiffs. This is a very strong running outboard that has low hours on it . These are very popular engines due to the fact that they have a very simple design and are extremely reliable. The carbureted 150 hp Yamaha outboards are an inexpensive alternative to modern computerized outboards. These engines have a proven track history and are regarded as being one of the more reliable outboards around. In 2003 this was one of the last years Yamaha made a v6 carbureted engine. Parts are abundant for these engines and most outboard mechanics can work on them. Prop and Controls are not included. The engine is currently set up for Pre-Mix but we will include the contents to make in oil injection.
